You say you want a resolution

Ah, the dawn of a new year! Tonight is the night where we reminisce on the bad and good hands dealt to us during this year of our Lord 2006 A.D.. May 2007 bring us less tears and more joy and may the "cup 'o kindness" shared by all last a little longer than in year's past.

Rather than braving the hoi polloi of downtown New Year's festivities, McKnitter will spend New Year's Eve at her favorite local bar, surrounded by friends, her S.O., and more than a few pints of that nectar of the gods, Shiner Bock.

In keeping with the idealism of the New Year, here is McKnitter's list 'o resolutions for 2007; I'll keep you posted on their "progress."

1. Quit biting my nails. My #1 resolution since I was age 11...which should tell you that the odds of success are minimal at best.

2. Develop tangible spiritual practices... that does not include having a beer with the crew, knitting compulsively, or watching the Simpsons.

3. Learn intarsia and/or Fair Isle knitting. Intarsia scares me...time to face the demon!

4. Refrain from purchasing yarn for no reason. I have an entire roll-y cart filled with the most eclectic assortment of yarn imaginable. Seriously--I feel like I'm hosting a Muppet convention!

5. Finish the (bleeping) baby blanket I've been working on for over 8 months. It started innocently enough. Some LionBrand Homespun yarn...an easy pattern...but the dreaded "yarn overs" in the pattern created much frustration and the blanket, like a forgotten science experiment, lies ignored.

Five resolutions should be enough, right? Maybe I'll add more as the day progresses. Until later, have a rockin' New Year's Eve!

What is Yorn?

yorn- noun, a contraction of the words "yarn" and "porn," (short for "pornography.") Catalogues, patterns, websites, and books concerning knitting that captivate knitters, sometimes to the point of obsession. Note that the usage of yorn has nothing to do with the musician of the similiar name.

Example:
"I was a little embarrassed when my significant other found my yorn stash on my nightstand, but the newest patterns in the latest Lion Brand catalogue are simply tantalizing!"
